Cabinet knobs and pulls – Measure the distance between the top and side bottom of the cabinet door where the knob or handle will be located. Mark the position where the center of the knob or handle will be held. Use a pencil to make a small but visible mark on the outside of the cabinet door. Some laminate cabinets are bright, and may cause the drill bit from sliding across the surface, leaving a streak. Press the punch at the mark and make a small slit.
Subject wood drill bit to drill. Most cabinet knobs and pulls require a standard size hole, which is provided by a 3/16 inch (0.47 cm). Use the drill for metal surface if you are drilling stainless steel . Put on goggles or other eye protection, and drill the hole in the cabinet door. Remove the masking tape from inside the closet door.

Screw inserted through the hole drilled in the back of the door, so the thread portion facing forward will cabinet. Hold the knob or handle on the screw thread. Turn the knob or handle clockwise on the screw thread until hand tight. Hold the cabinet knobs and pulls and adjust the screw on the back of the door with a screwdriver.
